POTS Treatment

You have POTS — and there is a path forward

Does this sound like you?

Most of our POTS patients have spent years being told it’s anxiety, dehydration, or “just in their head.”

If you recognize yourself in the list below, you are not imagining it and you don’t have to keep guessing.

• Racing or pounding heart when you stand up
• Lightheadedness, dizziness, or near-fainting
• Bone-deep fatigue that doesn’t improve with sleep
• Brain fog, word-finding trouble, poor short-term memory
• Headaches, especially when upright
• Nausea, bloating, or unpredictable digestion
• Heat intolerance and night sweats
• Cold hands and feet, or blood pooling/purple legs
• Shakiness, tremor, or feeling “wired but tired”
• Exercise intolerance or post-exertional crashes
• Sleep disturbance, insomnia, or unrefreshing sleep
• Anxiety-like symptoms that aren’t actually anxiety

How we treat POTS at Be Well OKC

POTS isn’t one diagnosis with one cause. It’s a pattern of autonomic dysfunction that can be driven by inflammation, gut imbalances, post-viral changes, nervous-system dysregulation, hormones,
and more.

We don’t hand you a prescription and a salt packet and send you on your way.

We work to understand why your system is dysregulated then we address it from the inside out.

Our 3 Step Approach

1

Listen and investigate

We take your history, symptoms, timeline, triggers, what’s helped and what hasn’t. Because we aren’t beholden to insurance, when appropriate, we order targeted labs (autonomic markers, inflammation, thyroid, iron, B-vitamin status, hormones and gut screening) to find the upstream drivers others may have missed.
2

Acupuncture to calm the autonomic nervous system

Acupuncture has growing clinical evidence for autonomic regulation of the same nervous system that goes haywire in POTS. We use it to reduce the sympathetic “fight-or-flight” overdrive, improve vagal (parasympathetic) tone, and give your body a real chance to recover. Most patients describe sessions as deeply relaxing.
3

Build a plan you can actually live with

From there we build an integrative plan tailored to you. The goal isn’t just to feel less awful. The goal is to live life on your terms again!

What You Won't Get Here

You won’t be told it’s anxiety. You won’t be sent away with one prescription and no plan.

POTS care should be thoughtful, individualized and grounded in both clinical evidence and respect for what you’ve already tried.

Meet Dr. Toni

Dr. Toni is the founder of Be Well OKC and has spent her career at the intersection of integrative medicine and traditional acupuncture.

After watching patient after patient be dismissed with conditions like POTS, long COVID and chronic fatigue, she built a practice designed for the people the conventional system tends to overlook. She is based in Edmond and sees patients in person at the Be Well OKC clinic.

Her approach blends evidence-based integrative therapies with the quiet, restorative work of acupuncture because she believes treating dysautonomia means treating the nervous system, not just the heart rate.

“My patients have been told for years that nothing is wrong. Something is wrong… and we can do something about it.”

Real patients. Real results.

These are stories from people who came in exhausted, dismissed and skeptical.

Be Well helped to restore their lives from the ground up.

I didn’t think that was possible

I was told for almost three years that I had anxiety. I knew it wasn’t anxiety — anxiety doesn’t make your heart rate jump 50 beats the second you stand.

At Be Well OKC I felt heard for the first time. Six months in, I can walk my dog again without sitting down halfway.

I’m back to work

After COVID my body just never reset. Standing up made the room spin, I couldn’t finish a workday, and three specialists shrugged at me.

Be Well actually listened and started me on a real recovery plan. The fog lifted first. Then the fatigue.

I’m back at work full-time and I sleep through the night.

Jessica, 42, Edmond

My family has me back

I was nervous about acupuncture… I’m a registered nurse so I’m a skeptic.

But the calming effect after my first few sessions was undeniable, and pairing it with the nutrition and supplement protocol Be Well built has been life-changing.

My resting heart rate is finally under 90. My family has me back.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is POTS, exactly?

POTS, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, is a form of dysautonomia where standing up causes an abnormal rise in heart rate.

Common symptoms include dizziness, fatigue, brain fog, palpitations, exercise intolerance, and GI issues.

Do I need an official POTS diagnosis to book a consultation?

No. Many of our patients come in suspecting POTS or a related autonomic condition but without a confirmed diagnosis.

Part of our first visit is reviewing what testing has been done and whether further workup is appropriate.

Can acupuncture really help with POTS?

Acupuncture has a growing body of research supporting its effect on autonomic regulation which is the very system that drives POTS symptoms.

Acupuncture is shown to be a powerful part of an integrative plan that calms the nervous system and supports recovery.

Are visits in person or telehealth?

Visits are in person at our Edmond clinic. Acupuncture treatment is hands-on and we believe initial integrative workups are best done face-to-face.

How soon will I feel better?

Honestly, it depends. Some patients feel meaningful change within a few weeks; others, especially those with longer or post-viral histories, take several months.

Recovery from autonomic dysfunction is rarely linear which is why we set realistic expectations together at your first visit.
